How can past draws help predict the lottery?
The computer RNG drawings are not shown live. KY has a Keno drawing every 4 minutes but the results are known before the animated screen starts showing gold colored balls landing on numbers. Scanned my ticket as the drawing started and it was a winner. Someone suggested that many people here are trying to figure out how to win games of pure random chance is not wise. Though I didn't win over $1 billion on Friday, I figured out my best chances of winning was to actually buy a ticket. I'm ope

Playing Quick Picks Versus Picking Your Own Numbers
In other words if 80% of ticket sales are QPs, than 80% of winning tickets should be QPs. That cain't be true, cauze it would be implying that NO Self-Pick ticketz EVER win..!! We know..anuther Probability in action huh?

Playing Quick Picks Versus Picking Your Own Numbers
the 70%/30% distribution That was an answer to the type of tickets sold; QPs or self picks. And more of a tongue-in-cheek response to probability. In other words if 80% of ticket sales are QPs, than 80% of winning tickets should be QPs. If terminals or the actual RNG drawings were programmed not to repeat combinations, they would not be random.

1 in 400 million?
This is good stuff from a mathematical point of view. From a practical perspective, theres no way in he11 PB or MM would ever switch to a 6+1 or 7+1 format. People have a hard enough time figuring out how to choose numbers for 5+1. The 4+1 format might be a go. And as you pointed out, there are too many potential prize categories to deal with the more balls you draw. Although the trend for matrix changes has been toward worse and worse odds, I strongly feel when they next change the games th

Despite sales influx from $2B Powerball, Massachusetts Lottery ticket sales falter
A lot of state lotteries (if not all) are looking for ways to increase sales (income). The only way to do that is to introduce new games that might appeal to players who are tired of the old games that have been around for years, and or increase the number of draws each day (Texas) for games, Pick 3, Daily 4, All or Nothing. When Power Ball started having draws on Mondays, Texas naturally started having Lotto draws on Mondays also (Lotto draws are also on Wed, and Sat). It's rather funny (no

Despite sales influx from $2B Powerball, Massachusetts Lottery ticket sales falter
Powerball was much more fun when it drew once a week. Same for Mega Millions. I agree with all of Todd's comments and feel the general public is suffering from lottery fatigue. However heads of lotteries seem to concentrate focus groups on the results they intend, as opposed to realistically studying declining economic conditions of their supporting players. If anyone wants the fun of guessing numbers for Powerball and Mega Millions please join in Maddog's Powerball and Mega Millions challe

Did MM increase the jackpot?
Or did they screw up and accidentally reveal some marketing truth and announce an imaginary cash value that's needed to buy the advertised annuity? The TX lottery website MM worksheet says that a roll will bring us an advertised jackpot of $354 million for Tuesday, but with a slightly higher cash: annuity ratio. It's also showing that higher ratio for tonight's drawing, and both the worksheet and the official MM website are reporting the cash value for tonight's drawing as $175.8 million ins

Arkansas Lottery's Lotto jackpot worth nearly $800,000; has yet to be won since game's launch
Maybe it will be still there for the taking after this drawing. It did roll again. Based on the last 10 drawings it looks like sales are only around 50k tickets, so not surprising it's rolled a bunch of times. You've certainly got enough time to get tickets for the next drawing, but even at 50 mpg you're looking at perhaps $25 to 30 worth of gas, not to mention your time, and wear and tear on the car.Spending $24 on tomorrow's MM drawing is cheaper and makes you almost 4 times as likely

Play 10 tickets every drawing or $100 once every two weeks?
The overall odds of winning something playing PB is 1:24.8671 and 1:24 for MM. Those odds or probabilities apply the same in each of the ten drawings so your 5 tickets are more likely to match nothing than winning a prize. You can use each of the MM bonus numbers twice on 50 tickets and those 2 tickets each is guaranteed to win something and have a 1:12,607,306 chance of winning the jackpot so once every two weeks is probably the better bet. Might be better to save the $10 for each drawing u

New York Lottery draws identical Take 5 results two drawings in a row
Back before QPs existed the NY lottery ran ads telling people to stop playing diagonal patterns. I forget the exact numbers but more than 8000 people were playing each of the diagonals starting from the upper right and left corners on the play slip for NY Lotto. I believe you, but why? Were they afraid they'd have to pay out too many fixed prizes in the unlikely event a pay slip pattern was drawn? Cheaper than running ads would have been to cap sales on particular combos or even better
