I'm curious, have you had much luck with the "Preceded by:" numbers? When I ran the backcheck program, I didn't do the preceding numbers, just the followers. Preceding Numbers is a whole other workup which strikes me as a natural now that I (finally) think about it. I think I'm going to add that workup and rerun the entire backcheck tonight. The code isn't much different from the followers, it should be easy. Who knows, maybe that will be the thing. One way or another, we'll know tomorrow morning...

It's just informational only. The "Preceded by" numbers are directly from the results list posted on the VAL website.
All I do is compile the information. I make no claims on future draws. Other than compiling, I don't keep records on how well it predicts.
With that said, I have noticed that some numbers on the list have hit either been drawn before or after.
When it comes to making choices, I only use my pencil & paper workups ( for which I keeps records) and a little intuition.
I have not found any program to be reliable in predicting the numbers and still remain skeptical.

I don't disagree with anything you said. All my program does is backcheck a day at a time as it walks backwards through the data to see if there's any correlation between the workup numbers and the actual draw results. The program notes every time a workup predicts a hit and records whether it's a straight or a boxed hit. The idea is to find a correlation between two (or more) workups that find the same hit, such as the Date Workup and the Seven-Day All-State Trending Numbers Workup predicting a straight hit on the same draw. Finding two or more workups that correlate is the Holy Grail, because it knocks out the wrong numbers and leaves the correct number. Unfortunately, when I ran this before, I didn't find two workups that correlated well. That's why I like the idea of another workup that makes sense. And, as I said, who knows, maybe this one will do something for us. It probably won't, but at least we gave it the old college try. We'll know soon.
Anyway, thanks for the idea. It's the best new one in a while.
P.S. My Followers and Preceded-by Workups do a slightly different thing than what you specified because I mash all the numbers together into one long string to do the search. My method returns more numbers which may be bad or good, but it definitely always returns all the usual numbers that you would find by searching the VAL list.
