Not a good day today, but that happens. Bought Snow Globe Cash #000-006, all losers. Then I buy #008-011, and 3 out of 4 won, but for $20 total (2 $5 winners and a $10 winner.) I thought a big one might be coming due to the pattern CarHauler has noticed.
Cash Fever #007 also lost. That number is as bad or worse than #022.
I am sorry that your day is not going so well. I have taken a day to reset, and I feel much better. I am now getting around to putting them into the computer. I might play later on today. I noticed that you did not mention Snow Globe Cash 007! Did you buy that one and not type it in here? If so, then I am betting that it might have won. I sure hope no one bought it right out from under you. It might be possible that 012 won, but who knows. It actually took me 12 tickets to get to my last winner.
We all have been at the point where we either run out of money or given up, whichever happens first, and that can cause terrible losses. That is the bad thing that can happen when you try this. Sometime you win a pissing contest with stubborn books of tickets this way, other times you lose. I do still think that the longer you go without a winner, the better the chances of finding the big one. I did not take my own advice a few days ago, and went shopping all around, buying $1, $2, $5, $10 and a $20 ticket, and I ended up losing a lot, as I wrote before, around $110. I did only buy less than $10 worth of tickets priced under $5 though. What has worked for me in one game may or may not work in another game, maybe I have just gotten lucky. I hate to think I caused you to lose all of that money. That makes me a bad advice giver.
By the way, I have won a fair amount of the time on number 007, but they have never been real big wins. If you never win on number 007, I would keep on buying it. Here is why: I think the lottery purposely hides good sized winners in usually unlucky numbers. That way when someone sees that number come up they might buy it, if they know it has won before. It also keeps it more fair so that experienced players can't just go get all of the winning tickets. Remember, several of my biggest winners have been on numbers that I don't usually play, or do very well on. Every ticket number that I have won on, I will usually buy again, and the lottery knows this. That is why they will probably make every number win, given enough books of tickets.
I hope you have better luck soon.

Hi - someone bought #007 while I was Christmas shopping. But it might have lost since 3 of the 4 I bought were winners. It seems there are a couple games where #007 can win (Platinum Payout, and I won $15 on it on Money Money Money,) but it almost always loses for me. I have one win in LOTS of attempts on it. I'm glad you took a break to reset - I'm having a smaller day tomorrow. I think your theory about unlucky numbers having big ones is true to an extent - I never win on #55 on the $5 and $10 games, but the store once showed me a big Money Money Money winner that was #55.
Don't feel bad - it was my fault that I kept going when the first 7 Snow Globe Cashes lost. But, you never know if a big win lurks, and I had money to play with.

We will never know if 007 won, it is a shame that someone else got it. You might be able to ask the cashier if he remembers someone turning it in as a winner, but you never know. I may or may not turn in tickets where I origionally purchased them. I had not noticed until I was typing all of the tickets in, that I had bought another ticket off of the winning roll. When I won the jingle bell, I had bought ticket 019, and it won $20. I did not buy 018, so I can just guess that it lost. 019 won $20, someone else bought 018, 017-011 all lost, 010 and 009 won $15 each, 008 and 007 lost, and the 006 won $100. It actually turned out that I made $20 profit on that book. Also keep in mind that this pattern may count up as well as down. It could go in either order.
I haven't been back out to that store yet, but I probably wouldn't buy another ticket from that book, even if it is still there. If I did, it would be out of sheer morbid curiosity, or to see if there is anything leading to a winner. Besides what I have already found, I am looking for other tell-tale signs that a winner is nearby.
Of most interest to me is if there is something in the play areas leading up to the winner, or after it. For example, on the losing ticket 011, in the play area, 11 was $30, and 21 was $15. Does this have anything to do with anything? I doubt it, but you never know. After all, both numbers ended in 1 and one said $15, the other $30, and that was after all on ticket number 011. The next two tickets won $15 each, for a total of $30. That is probably just crazy talk, getting near conspiracy theory ideas, but you never know. I wouldn't make buying decisions on that alone, but it is something that you can compare, if you keep all of the losers.

I have no sense. I just don't know when to leave well enough alone, or if I have even hit well enough. I just did another stupid thing. I bought 025 and 024 Holiday Gifts. 025 was first, so I could have just bought it, and I would have won the $10 that it won. I knew that most likely only one of those stood to be a winner, and more than likely 025, so I just broke even, when I could have made $5. Now comes the next idiot thing that I did. I bought 026 and 025 Jingle Jumbo Bucks. I figured that 026 would lose, but I needed to buy it to get at 025.
They both ended up winning $20 each. I had made myself a nice little profit, but based on the logic of back to back winners coming before a $100 jingle bell, I decided to go back for more. The only part missing was the long losing streak. I bought 3 more, and they all lost. I could have made as much as $25 out of this whole deal, or at least settled with the $20 of profit that I had. Now I am left wondering if 021 will win, or maybe 020? At this point in time, I have lost $10 for the day, so I should just leave it at that. After all, what if I go back, and it is just a free ticket, or worse, nothing. I do not know for certain when to stop chasing losers, and when to just be satisfied. Sometimes I just don't know if the stress and uncertainty are worth it. Which begs the next question: seeing as how a lot of these folks buy until they win, now I am curious if 027 won too. I bet it did.
Back to the whole question of if I had won the $20, wouldn't I have assumed that another winner was nowhere in sight? I mean usually you do not get two winners in a row, but I have had a few recently. Now I just need someone to hold my hand, and tell me whether or not I should go get another ticket. Maybe I need to invent x-ray glasses that see through latex. I wonder if you would make more money using that or selling it. Would it be illegal? I imagine that the lottery would scramble to find some other way to disguise the winner for future printings, but what would they do about the tickets that are out now? Would they recall them all, and declare those in circulation void? What we need is a more powerful scanner that can scan the bar-code on the front of the ticket, the one you can't see until you scratch off the front of the ticket, and is near the validation code. I don't think the clerks have to type in the numbers if they scan that one, but I am not sure. I need to come up with something better than luck.

Hi, CarHauler - sorry to hear that. I'd set a loss limit for yourself and then the decision will be easier.
#008 was luckly today - the number won $40 on Cash Fever and $20 on Money Money Money. Then bought #016 Cash Fever from a new store in Pottstown while shopping at the mall - but same losing area of the game that I've experienced before, and it lost.

When I decide to enforce a loss limit on myself, it is usually $20. It is a good idea most of the time. Figuring when to stick to it is the hard part, especially if you buy tickets, and take them home to scratch them. But even so, based on that, I could have gone back and gotten another one. I hope no one else got it, if there is one. I just wonder if there is a way to tell. I guess I will go back to the store and see if I can come up with anything.
Read this if you havent already: http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/10913133/detail.html
Debra Bitler, of Shillington, in eastern Pennsylvania, holds the record with 38 instant lottery wins topping $1,000.
That is what I am talking about! Hoot Hoot! Raise the roof! Is she in cahoots with someone at the lottery office? Does she spend thousands of dollars a week on the lottery? If not, I wonder how much she and the others do spend. Is she just lucky? What about the guy that won two out of five of the $1,000,000 top prizes? Are these people really lucky? I very seriously doubt it. I still wonder if they have figured out a way to tell if a big winner is in the book. Maybe they buy multiple rolls of $20 tickets at a time.

By the way, congratulations on your wins Matt! I am going to make it my goal to win the $100 jingle bell within every 7 tickets that I buy. Who knows, maybe I will. I asked one of my regular cashiers if he saw $20 games hit $500 as often as he saw $10 games hit $100. He said that he did not, and that the majority of the big $20 winners are $100. Not really thinking about spending a ton of money on $20 tickets that usually only pay out $100. On the other hand, the store owner said that he had a $5,000 winner on it I think. I cannot imagine the thrill of actually scratching off a $5,000,000 winner, but the likelihood of that is so small.
Living in a populated area had pluses and minuses, but I would like to move out to the country some day. There will be more ticket turnover in these busy areas, so on one hand, there should be more prizes, but not necessarily. As I read another poster doing with an actual map I think, I do it with Google Earth. I put place-marks of the cities, along with the prize amount of the scratch off winners that I get off the GA lottery website. I am amazed at how spread out the prizes are. Many are in cities that I have never heard of, and I have lived my entire life in GA. That just shows that they do actually spread the tickets out.
I need to become really good friends with someone in the lottery who knows where all of the big tickets are, but naturally can't go buy any and claim the winners. How do you advertise for such a thing? Nah I am just kidding. That is probably very illegal. If I suddenly quit posting on here, then maybe I just found my right lottery person, or either comments like I left on rdgrnr's Blog: https://www.lotterypost.com/blogentry/44690/viewcomments caused me to disappear.
I had my own website a while ago, but for reasons that will remain known only to a small handful of folks, I decided to take it down. I think I have been on Obama's watch list for a while. I am surprised that the government has not killed me yet, I really am.
I have decided to start my own blog on LP, here it is: https://www.lotterypost.com/blog/99640

Lost over $100 today, Don't know what has gotten in to me. Trying to get another jingle bell. Spent $110 on JJB, got back $60. Had 010,009 win $15 each. 008 free ticket. searching for bell. bought tickets 007-001 all lost. 000 won $20. I also bought a bunch of losers off other end of roll, where I had $40 worth of winners, but couldn't leave it alone either. Had 2 nice winners. Lost $70 altogether on that roll. Jingle bell probably was in middle, if it existed. Left another chance to take the money and run.
First got 3 each Holiday Gifts from qt. 059 and 058 lost on both rolls. 57 won $10 on one and free ticket on other. Got 6 Holiday Gift losers in a row followed by $15 win, then a free ticket. Yeah. Was at $233 ahead for the month, last Mon 12/13. Now am ahead by $6 for month. Losing money and mind. I believe I will cash in the nearly $200 (or whatever I have left) for however many consecutive $20 tickets I can. Screw this. I started off today spending $60 and making a $10 profit, but could not leave well enough alone. It will be all or nothing.
Went crazy 2 days in a row. I wish I had NEVER EVER bought those 3 tickets, 3 months ago that got me started. At least when I was drinking I got something for my money. The end is near for me if there is no turn around. I should destroy my tickets and records and everything related to the lottery. Must sleep now. I need a $350 win to erase all of my losses. Then start fresh without lottery.
-
Never. I will continue the good fight. Just (hopefully) with a little more sense.
-
I found an accounting error on my part. A $10 winner (or so I thought) is actually worth $15. Not much, but a morale booster during my time of loss.
-
Well, Jingle Bell Doubler #000 didn't repeat. Got it again, and it lost this time. But I actually got a bit more money than I put in today because #28 Winner Green won $20.
-
I am glad that you did end up making some money today. I spent $50 on Jingle Jumbo Bucks. I very stupidly purchased another ticket, 026, after I the previous ticket, 027 won $25 yesterday. Shame on me. I guess that I still made $5 off those two tickets, so that is good. I lost on tickets 001, 000, 029 and 028 on this game at another retailer. I think I will go back and see if 027 is still there. Kings and Queens 031 and 030 both lost. My impression of that game is that it has fewer winners, but those that do win are bigger. One day, I actually got 5 losers in a row out of a machine of those, and that was the end of the roll. I am not so sure that that is a very good sign for a new game. I may play it a few more times, but if it doesn't do better, then I might have to give up. I will see if I can learn it's pattern. I also lost on Holiday Gifts 002. Now I am at -$65 for the day, which sucks.
Then I scratch 014 Maximum Green, and it hits for $100, so it saved the day. It was the last one I scratched off, so it really made me feel a whole lot better. It hit for $100, and is actually a real good ticket. You can read my thoughts on it here: https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/224662 I will be playing it a whole lot more, but will be much more careful. That is the second time in as many weeks that the first ticket on the roll hit for $100. I will be buying more of these, but you never know. I also lose on the last ticket some of the time. As you will note, it is roughly 3 times as likely to hit for $100 as Jingle Jumbo Bucks.
This is my new favorite. I won $100 the fourth time I played it, so now I'm a believer. I turned around a horrible losing streak. I must also say that those $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 places in the play area really have my attention. Not that it is likely, but to think that I might get to take home almost 3.5 million dollars from a from an instant ticket, after taxes is a good motivator as well. Throw in the fact that you can enter non-winners online for a chance at 10 $10,000 monthly prizes each month, and you now have a ticket that while very expensive, has all types of ways to win, and win big. I may be hooked. I have a whole new attitude about $20 tickets. Winning $100 the fourth time that I played this game has really changed my perspective. I am on the hunt, and $500 or greater prizes are what I am searching for.

Augusta gas station pumps $250K Georgia Lottery prize
Wednesday, December 8, 2010ATLANTA – An Augusta gas station has pumped a quarter-million dollar Georgia Lottery prize to a happy winner in time for the holidays. Coliseum, 801 Walton Way in Augusta, has sold a $250,000 top prize on the Holiday Gifts instant game.
Mack Johnson Jr. of Ridge Spring, S.C., won the top prize. Johnson, who works for the town’s water department, said he was in Augusta when he decided to purchase the holiday-themed ticket. Johnson, 68, says he scratched it while at home.
“I almost passed out,” he recalled.
Feeling good about his lottery win, Johnson wants to pay off bills.
“I didn’t have any Christmas plans, but I will make some now,” he exclaimed.
I am glad to see someone win big at that game, but I wish it would be me. I wonder how much this guy plays. The owner of one store where I spend most of my money said that he had sold a $500 Holiday Gifts winner. I got all of my biggest wins at other stores, so now I am really wondering what is going on. The most I have won is $150, and it was playing Holiday Gifts. I have purchased around 125 Holiday Gifts tickets. I wonder why I cannot seem to do any better. I guess a $150, $75 and $40 winner is not so bad, but I want a big winner, a really big one. I want a ticket that I have to take to the lottery main office to cash.

Congrats, CarHauler! Maybe that $20 game is better than the ones here. After seeing all those Cash Fever losers in a row in the waste basket, I'm cynical about them. I'd still be very careful as those $20 games can create losses quickly.
I agree - I can't seem to find a big one either. Will keep looking!

I really wouldn't be cynical, but I understand. I used to be too, until I realized that long strings happen in every game, and that it almost certainly means that there is a good chance that a big winner accompanied it, either before or after. I have played Maximum Green a total of 5 times now, and of that, two were losers, one won $100, and two won $25, for a total of $150. If I keep up with numbers like that, I will be very happy. The losses do add up quickly. I have no intentions of going out and buying 5 of these at a time. I won't play such an expensive game that way. Thankfully, I learned my lesson on a $10 game, and I learned it quickly. I am just sad that I had to lose so much money. You live and you learn.
You will happy to know that as of today, I am calling it quits for Holiday Gifts. Too many days of spending $40, and having a free ticket to show for it. Shame on me for keeping the false hope up for so long. I will most likely be replacing it with Maximum Green. Yes, you heard me right; I am replacing my $5 game with a $20 game. The lottery did it to itself. They tantalize you with frequent wins, and you just can't seem to go wrong with the game. It pays out every 3 tickets, and it is either $15 or $20, so it is a break even game, and I had lots of fun playing it. There are no winners of a free ticket, only winners and losers. They get you hooked.
Then bam, like a hammer, like a light switch, they cut it off. It is like they literally closed the flood gates. I have thought it was dying for a while, but I am certain of it now. Holiday Gifts is 100% dead. I am sad to report that I have purchased my last ticket. I cannot and will not continue purchasing strings of three tickets to lose, or get a free ticket. All of the success I had on it was at the beginning, when I had the odds of 1 in almost every 2-3 tickets being a winner. Now to compensate for all of the winners, they have to put out tons of losers, and hope that they can sell them before people get wise and quit buying them. I think they messed up royally, just in time for Christmas.
As I have said before, I think the game was designed as a stocking stuffer, and when it first came out, it would have made a really good one. Almost any family of four would have had a near 100% chance of one of those being a winner in the beginning, which is what I think they intended. Everyone would wake up on Christmas morning, and find a Holiday Gifts ticket in their stocking, and almost certainly someone in that family would have won $15 or $20, so that would get new business.
After all, if someone won even once out of the family, then there must be a lot more winners, that is what people might think. After seeing those winners, they would go out and buy more. But they really messed up big-time. They did not realize what a hit the game was going to be, so they ran out of winners way too soon. They did not want families to find any free tickets in their stockings. Free tickets just soften the blow to us, and anger us many times. Free tickets are not what anyone wants to find in their stockings. That only brings resentment, anger, and mistrust for the lottery. They did not intend on most families having no winners, but that is exactly what is going to happen.
In my opinion, only 1 out of every 2 families will have a winner now, and of those, 95% will be free tickets. They simply made the winners fizzle out too soon. I don't think that they will be prepared for the backlash that this is going to cause. I can tell you after spending about $150 on this game over the course of the last 4 days, and only having one $15 winner, a $10 winner, and maybe 3 free tickets, that people are going to be mad, and are going to develop a very, very bad taste for the lottery. I don't think they intended this game to do so poorly until after the new year. Maybe they are counting on people being stupid enough to think that they can still win and that they will buy some for stocking stuffers anyway. Not me, and not at my house.
See, to make up for all of the frequent, good sized winners in the beginning, they have to put out a sizeable number of losers. The overall odds are 1 in 3.99, so if the odds had been paying out at 1 in 2.5, then guess what? Now they will pay out at 1 in 5.5 to compensate. And what about those nice $15 and $20 constant winners? Sorry, those days have long since past. Now not only will you only win 1 out of 5.5 times, it will be a free ticket. And what about those $75 and $150 winners I had this month on Holiday Gifts? Those were on ticket printings prior to 200,000. If you can find a book with a lower serial number than that, and it still has a bunch of tickets on it, then it definitely may be worth pursuing, but buddy, let me tell you, the lottery is quickly making its money back on this game.
There was a time not too long ago where I was ahead by $150 in this game, and that was just after the big winner. I should have quit then, but I just had to keep searching. I haven't tallied it up yet, but my guess is that I am around $0 in overall profit for this game. I will count all of the tickets, but I am assuming that I will end up having played about 150 times for this game, so that is around $750 that I have spent on it. That does not make me all knowing, but it puts me in a position to know what I am talking about. I strongly suggest that no one else buy any more of these tickets. Let the Georgia Lottery eat the cost. I hope these tickets go stale on the shelves, and people refuse to buy them. That would be the smart thing to do.
RIP Holiday Gifts. I purchased my last ticket today at Racetrack on Canton Road. The last ticket which I purchased was 842-219589-025. It lost. Out of the seven tickets and $35 I spent today, I won a free ticket. I won the free ticket on ticket number842-210229-004, and I purchased it on QT on Sandy Plains Road. This is not an isolated incident, I am sad to report. It has been occurring like this for the past few weeks. 20,000 tickets (after 200,000) is a large enough sample for me make such a judgment. In the days to come, I may issue an after-action report.
