Let's go over my Magic Wheel. Let's say you have a number to play and you wanted to play the number so that you got the best possible return.
In this example I'm going to use 685 which as we know is a 6-way number, that means that there are SIX possible combinations for this number to fall; 568-586-658-685-856-865
Now let's say that you don't have a computer program and software tracking these numbers for your state's game, in which of course you would know the best numbers to play and in which order. My Magic Wheel takes the numbers and puts them in order of best-to-least play order, in the case of the 685 the Magic Wheel is: 856-586-568-865-685-658 the wheel order is: 6-5-4-3-2-1
Now you are betting that the 8-5-6 is the best of the combinations and that the 6-5-8 is the least, so you bet accordingly; $6.00 on 8-5-6, $5.00 on 5-8-6..............$1.00 on 6-5-8.
If you are right and the 8-5-6 falls you have $6.00 on that number and won $3,000.00 (provided your state does'nt pay out on a pari-mutual basis) a bet at would win $5,400.00 [900:1 odds].
Of course the worst case for you would be that 6-5-8 falls, in which you would only win $500.00 having only $1.00 placed on it. The total cost for the play would be $21.00
Now let's take this a step further, to the "Power Rank" part of the system.
Here we are looking at the "Rank" of the 6-digit combo, in this case the Rank is "7" nine (9) being the highest down to 1-10 and 11. With the Power Rank you now multiply your units by the Power Rank digit, so in the case of $21.00 x 7 = $147.00 the $1.00 you put on the 6-5-8 is now $7.00 so using the "Power Rank" you would have seven tickets at $1.00 each or winnings of $3500.00 [$6300.00 @ ]. Note: If you can't afford to spend $147.00 on a number play a fraction thereof, let's say 10% 25% etc., whatever your purse will allow, and do bet with your head not over it.
I will explain the pick-4 winner over in the Pick-4 for DUMMIES 48-2004 thread, but the concept is the same as detailed above.
