Do you play PB & MM despite the jackpot size or..
I'm playing for a second place win. Then why bother playing PB at all? Most states have multiple games that offer prizes of $1 million and often a bit more, and they frequently offer a better deal. Win for life gives you almost twice the chances of winning $1000/week for life (close to annual income from a safe investment of the after-tax 2nd place PB prize) for only $2, about half the chance to win $1000/day (much better than the 2nd place PB prize), and you also have $1 left over. The sam

Is it Rigged?
There must be some advantage to the lottery, otherwise they wouldn't do it that way. But what the advantage is I can't really work out mathematically. Maybe having 43 second place winners in last Saturday's PB offers some insight. 25.5 million tickets were sold, so with the odds of winning the 2nd place prize at about 1 in 11.688 million 2.2 winners would have been statistically normal. I can't tell you the chance of having 43 winners, because with a limit of 20 decimal places my Open Offic

Fun things to do at the lotto counter...
Yeah, I remember that LiveInGreenBay.....right place, right time, right move on his part. Where I live someone or maybe some college kids leave fortune cookie fortunes with numbers on them at the lotto counter but it hasn't worked yet. TheGameGrl.... Spin around in different directions and tell the clerk you are trying to unwind from the day For the humorless here, Native Americans have a saying that the first thing a person says after they die is, Why was I so seri

Record $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot won by 3 tickets
It's good that you can maintain a humor about the situation. Otherwise, I'm in the same boat as you. I didn't win diddly. But, I have yet to check the no-tax state I play in, for the 2nd prize. I've not even looked at the numbers I played with slip or randomly. See, I played a few tickets in this lame state,An as well as the no-tax state. I just know I'm not winner of prize 1. I'm bummed out, BIG TIME. I knew I wasn't going to win, but something in the back of my mind, just kept naggin

My numbers hit 3/4/15, at lastminute I blew off playing- I am devastated- help
I remember reading two stories in the last three or four years about people playing their own numbers for a long time. There was someone in Canada who had been playing the same numbers on the Canadian Lotto game for 40 years and they finally hit a nice jackpot. Then in England, a guy and his girlfriend had went to Greece for a vacation and had a Chinese dinner somewhere and after opening the Chinese fortune cookie, he decided to play those numbers on the lottery, the National Lottery game

When you purchase your MM/PB tickets are you not...
I think sharing a small starting jackpot would sting me a bit. Remember all those people who won 2nd prize playing fortune cookie numbers? Would I want to share my 40mil jackpot with 10 other players? NO! It would be awesome to have wo 4mil$ on a 1$ bet, but I intend to share with my family, and there is a lot of them. Also such small jackpots don't allow for any mishaps and missteps. If you win 300mil$ you put 50mil$ in a CDARS account, a gigantic rainy day fund. If any investments
