Interestingly, it appears the official Mega Millions website got it wrong. The actual estimate for tonight is $1.13 billion , not $1.12 billion. That's a difference of $10,000,000, so not insignificant. I will cross-post this on the Powerball story too, since there's discussion about it there.

IDK what retailers think. Seems about 50/50 in the store, some go to clerk, others lotto machine. In KY when on line started they were restrictive. You still cannot say play Pick 3 or Pick 4 for both drawings. What is meant by that it has no button for both draws, so you just do it individually. why in the world does it take so long for a draw after cutof f . Probably to prevent past posting in any of the 48 PowerBall jurisdictions. Each of them has to certify none of their terminals can print PB tickets before the drawing. They won't conduct the drawing until all the jurisdictions have checked in and because that happened a couple times in the last year, some might make the cutoff time even longer. I don't know about the family not having a claim. They are in Maine which honors a verbal agreement. An example would be Marie Holmes who won Powerball a few years ago.
