I'm not judging you, but I'm a little puzzled by all of this. Not sure where in Central Florida you live, but I'm in the Naples area on the west coast and live about 500 miles (each way) from Hardeeville. Anyway, I'm just trying to use logic here and my question is this. Florida has a lot of games, including a state lotto with 1 in 23M odds. MM odds are about 1 in 176M. PB odds are about 1 in 146M. I'm glad it's PowerBall that's considering a matrix change instead of MegaMillions since MM is played in my state. I think there could be a point where winning a prize with the multi-state lotteries become so hard that players will no longer be attracted from local games. For each string of numbers there are 1716 possible combinations, so playing all combinations for both strings would cost over $3400 for each game (assuming $1 per play and that all of the games have matrixes with at least 41 numbers). Assuming multi-state tri-state megabucks is a redundant listing for ME, NH and VT, you've listed 9 games in the first post, so playing all the combinations for all of the games would cost almost $31,000. I also think the top prize is rather small, especially for a $2 game. If I want to play for 20k or 50k, I'll buy a scratch ticket. (But M M is still way better than UNlucky for Life.) Hmm. Does this mean that FL has a pretty good payout or they are underestimating the actual ticket sales? I'm mentioning this because I often see cash values as high as 60% of the advertised jackpot to winners for the Lotto and 70% for the FL MegaMoney which has jackpots ranging from $500K to $2M (maximum) From my calculations the average is around 56% for the 6/53 Lotto and 67% for FL MegaMoney which is 4/44 1/22 for the Megaball. In the states where MegaMillions and PowerBall are played, there are local games with several million dollars jackpots with better odds of winning but the overall odds of winning anything in those game are worst. For most players winning something is better than winning nothing and the multi-state game take advantage of that. It's gonna be interesting to see if Cash4Life takes off or not. I mean, will it underperform like they said Sweet Million did? I'll be watching to see what happens with the new game.
