When Will Illinois Win The Mega Million
GRRRR@ the beast monster and Internet Explorer! Ha I tried to respond to this last night. When I moved to IL I just knew that we had MM and that it was a multi-state game. I'm not real big on finding out the history of things but thanks Longarm and Coin Toss for the info.

Mega Millions or Powerball will reach Half a Billion.
With all the Lottery States selling both Multi-State lotteries, Mega Millions and Powerball, do you see the jackpots of either game reaching 500 Million or more this year? I think it will reach at least 500 Million.

Matrix change: Powerball to get much harder to win?
Why doesn't PB roll its matrix back some and essentially coast along with that game which was once fun to play? To compete with mega lotteries like El Gordo which draws once a year why doesn't the Multi-State Lottery Association expand on what states are doing now and have a raffle every 6 months or every year???? Jackpots climb to the probable billion + range and everyone gets what they want ...... all of which makes sense instead of trying Franken-morph PB into something unrecognizable.

National Powerball
I would hope that if there is to be a national lottery, that Mega Millions and Powerball would be preserved much as they are now. Perhaps a better idea is to have California, NY, and Texas break from MM and form the nation's third major multi-state game, with Florida eventually joining MM (rather than PB).

National Powerball
A national lottery would have to be in the states that first had their own state lottery. It would be just another game added to each states line up of games they offer to their players. It does not make sense to have states that do not have lotteries already to have just a national lottery in their own state. I would propose that the two multi-state games and the larger state lotteries have their directors sit on a panel to over see this new national lottery. That is if it ever did happen.-

Q for chuck32
If you were to bring back MUSL Annuity4Life, would there be a cash option (and I would hope all jurisdictions participating would offer it, unlike the new multi-state Lose for Life, in which only VA gives players a choice)? Interesting that ME-NH-VT are considering a Lose for Life game, since New Hampshire offered Annuity4Life.

Multi-state games
Mega Millions winners in California get pari-mutuel prizes. MM players in Texas have the Megaplier, which multiplies all prizes except the jackpot. At least two MM states require the cash/annuity choice when you play. Even worse is the new Lose for Life online game. VA winners have a cash option (which is equal to only 10 years of quarterly payments.) GA doesn't even have a cash option, and the same probably can be said of KY.

Next Hot Lotto state
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on May 13, 2006I voted OK since it's a new lottery, and it obviously will add more online games. NC is in much the same position (no online games yet) but there's a chance it will go for Lose for Life instead. I seriously doubt NC will go for either Win For Life or Hot Lotto. They'll be too busy focusing on their in-state games like Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5. What's more, if they ever do consider adding a second multi-state game, IMHO, both of those game

MM at 265M !!
Quote: Originally posted by dvdiva on April 15, 2006One more roll to the 300 level. Two rolls to a possible record. I'm thinking the record will happen this time, because I think it's all part of a conspiracy lol. One multi-state game does not set a record but comes close, then the other one does, or vice versa. Since Powerball was well on its way but didn't make it, this Mega Millions run will.

2nd tier MM prize as a progressive
It can't be done in Powerball, because small states would have terrible 2nd tier prizes. It's already being done in all states that offer pari-mutuel prize payouts. In fact, California has pari-mutuel prizes on all games, including SLP. The problem with your theory (other than what I've mentioned already) is that the odds of hitting a 2nd prize in all other games is low enough that there would never be this kind of payout for 2nd place. This is a concept that really only works with Mega Millio
