$325 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot goes through the roof
I read awhile back that some michigan lawmaker introduced a bill to let the powerball/mega winners in michigan remain anonymous. Anyone know if this got shot down or is still moving forward? Can't believe someone in lansing actually thought of doing something useful for a change.

LOTTERY POST ANNOUNCES LOTTERY PRIZE PAYOUT RESULTS
Todd it's good you added this system for the LPM, I am a member of the player club in Michigan and I have always even with player city use the michigan history data base to track certain numbers combination and their pay out, also the number of people who won on each combination.

Historic lottery award ceremony Friday in Michigan
By Todd Northrop
For the first time in Michigan Lottery history, two mega jackpot winners will collect their winnings at the same time Friday at Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
Most public interest will likely be centered on the winner of Saturday's $128.6 million Powerball drawing. That's because of the unique location where the winning ticket was purchased: an adult video and book store in Highland Park.
The location also includes a walk-up window for lottery ticket purchase

Michigan gets second multi-state lottery winner in a week
I think Michigan, Ohio, New York, and California tend to have the highest hit rate among Mega Millions winners. Then again, there's nothing else to do in Michigan, Ohio, and New York this time of year because it's so dang cold!

Self-described 'lottery freak' buys $88M Powerball ticket
You must not do a lot of reading about lottery winners. The largest ever single PowerBall jackpot was won by a construction company owner, Jack Whittaker of West Virginia who bought 100 tickets. The largest jackpot ever (BigGame which became MegaMillions) was won by two guys, one in Illinois and the other in Michigan. The guy in Michigan who owned a swimming pool construction company, claimed he bought a hot dog at a service station, only had a $100 bill so he use it to pay for his hot dog and a

$170 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised
The story didn't say they were from Georgia, just that they had some property there. Of course then I think it was the next winner, who also won the same amount being from from Georgia. I was waiting for that story to mention that they had some land in Michigan and they were going to retire up here, but of course that'd be silly. No one wants to retire in Michigan, let alone move here.

Judge rules Washington lottery winners can't be anonymous
What really stinks is the challenge to privacy laws. In Michigan we can remain anonymous for state lottery winnings, but not Megamillions. It would be a shame if someone challenged the Michigan rules (or other states) using this Washington case as precedent.
