Lottery-scamming brothers avoid asset seizures by transferring property to their mother
It's not directly related, but I've wondered if what a lot of us have been doing on here for decades wouldn't be illegal if we were successful and if the lottery authorities knew. Systems to win against casinos on a blackjack table are definitely illegal to use in some states and will get you banned from casinos everywhere if you get caught using them. They call it 'cheating' if you figure out a way to improve your odds against the house. But the Lottery Systems forum, the Math Forum, even

$900 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised just hours after initial estimate
Ill restate what I said as well and say that I will will wait and see if we see more bumps. If you provided proof that is undeniable then sure I would be willing to believe it. But as it stands I don't see any reason to believe that during the hrs of 11pm-11am there were just so many sells that there was a $32 million bump from what was previously estimated. According to Kelly Cripe, director of media relations for the Texas Lottery Commission, precisely 34.0066 percent of each sales dollar

NJ man claims $315.3 million Powerball lottery jackpot
Basically there never was a $315.3 million jackpot to claim. Since I will be taking the Cash Lump Sum because of my age and health I do the math. I divide the Annuity by three and add a couple of million to get close to my correct lump sum. I am in California and do not pay any State taxes on lottery winnings. That saves me 13.3% Plus President Trump cut taxes on lottery winnings from 39.6% down to 37%. When we talk about large lottery winnings that 2.6% makes a big difference. We

Nearly 14,000 S.C. lottery players won Pick 3 Friday
South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) rules state that the aggregate liability limit is $3.5m, which can be increased without notice. However, the article says that $3.5m was the total prize payout. That would mean that all but four of the 13,996 bet 50 cents, which doesn't seem right. But, I don't play the game so maybe my math is wrong. In addition to the 13,996 straight winners, there were also 33 front winners and 7 back winners that should be included in the $3.5m limit. SCEL

NJ-based company exposed for making dubious claims about beating lottery
I'm surprised that this article appeared on the Lottery Post given what they are selling. All those other predictors are the same. Or at least none of them have met the burden of proof for their claims. The thing about these systems is that if they worked, that would mean that the draws are predictable and therefore non-random by definition. Which consequently means that any lottery that claims in the rules of the game that the draws are random, is in violation of its own rules, and playe

In lotteries, lucky numbers will only win you less
the odds of that happening were virtually the same as winning the lottery. (with a tiny bit of difference since the man had bought five lines) The odds of it happening would be exactly the same as winning the lottery if the ticket had two lines. With 5 lines the difference is quite significant. Playing 5 lines means that lines 2 through 5 offer 4 chances to match line 1. Lines 3 through 5 offer 3 chances to match line 2. Lines 4 and 5 offer 2 chances to match line 3, and line 5 is 1 chance

Disney chooses director for upcoming lottery movie
I agree with LottoMetro, in that the act of playing the lottery is a highly irrational act so to portray it as anything but would ring false and, truth be told, boring. Yes, Bow-wow's movie looked idiotic but I don't expect anything else from someone who chooses to be called Bow-Wow. Which is why I never saw it. I liked Colin Hanks' lottery movie, though that was more about serial killing. Fact is,almost every movie made that involves a lot of money has a plot line based on unmitigated greed

Mass. Lottery knew about exploited game's flaws for years, IG says
Massachusetts State Lottery officials knew for years that a small group of gambling syndicates had virtually taken over a game called Cash WinFall winning most of the prizes during high payoff periods but did nothing about it until the local media began investigating, according to state Inspector General Gregory W. Sullivan. Sullivan's report details the way a handful of math and science wizards, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology undergraduates looking for an interesting school

Illinois Lottery to add Powerball online ticket sales
The bill moved to the Senate 62-47, only two votes above the bare minimum needed for passage. The measure also calls for a study on how online lottery sales impact convenience stores and other retailers that sell lottery tickets. You must have missed that part because it was the state Senate that called for the study. I got the figures from the Illinois Lottery 2010 Annual Report so it's obvious the lottery doesn't need a consultant/tax crusader (whatever that means). I suppose the Senat

Lucky lottery lady outed as Stanford University statistics PhD
Winning the jackpot multiple times with ball games then it can be seen as having good luck. When winning with predetermind lottery games (scratch offs) or RNG type lottery multiple times, in millions, jackpot prizes, then there's a small chance being inside work. If this is the work of highly sophisicated inside job, then someone has to stand forward to claim the winning tickets. Someone with a math degree, like a PhD so they don't question how it was done, because it's too complex you kno
