Should lottery retailers have money on hand to pay winners with?
I agree that you should have enough cash to cover it. That has happened to me before and I know the retailer had enough cash, I think he didn't want to be bothered. He never had a problem with taking my money for the lottery. I stopped patronizing that store because of it.

Can you keep a POWERBALL lottery ticket if you claim a prize with it?
Do you guys think that I can come back today from the time that I came by it was close to the cutoff time of yesterday? I can just say the POWERBALL ticket which has a winning red ball (34) and the POWERPLAY was purchased on it! Or should I just stay home? I guess that I can ask the retailer if they let the people keep their ticket or not!

Can you keep a POWERBALL lottery ticket if you claim a prize with it?
With the G-Tech machines once the ticket is cashed two receipts come out a player copy and a retailers copy. The retailer no longer needs the original ticket. If someone attempts to cash a ticket that has already been cashed it will say ticket already cashed on the machine's screen. Some retailers shred cashed tickets immediately after cashing to insure no dumpster divers are retriving cashed scratchers and recashing.

Can you keep a POWERBALL lottery ticket if you claim a prize with it?
This varies by retailer. Some will insist they keep/discard the ticket. Others will give it back to you with a lottery receipt showing how much was paid.

Bar codes at the bottom of lottery tickets
A ticket can only be cashed once so if you could cashed a copy, it would nullify the real one. Any tickets worth $600 or more have to be taken to a bank or a lottery head quarters to be verified again after being verified by a retailer and the winner has to have ID for tax purposes. Ohio not only have the bar codes on their tickets but the rolls of paper that the tickets are printed on have serial numbers so the winning tickets not only has to have the right bar codes but be printed on paper iss

Playing Location
Do you think the playing location (lottery retailer) has any affect on a cash 3 or cash 4 number being selected? I live in a small town in GA and everyone goes to the Circle 9 to play lotto, however when you go back in their you never see that anyone has won anything.

is it true...
I think it depends upon the state involved. They all do it differently, since it is state-run not national. So how much they get depends upon what the particular state they are in has allowed by law. At one time in WI the retailer got nothing. Now, I think they get a small percent . That's only on a jackpot of course. Nothing on anything less.

several good reason to pick 1 2 3 4 5 6
or for that mater many people play numbers on the tickets 4 corners and one in the middle they play numbers in a straight line. and x pattern every conceivable shape of letters in the alphabet. They may try and make them in a sequence of the shape or skip every other number. You'd be amazed if you were a retailer and saw the many configurations of the way people enter there selections on play slips.

Truly Random
I don't know what it's like where you live, but in Florida rarely does a retailer sell more than one winner in the Fantasy 5, Mega Money or Lotto games. It happens, but not that often.

so when you say "validate" a ticket
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I suspect validation is a process that takes place at Lottery HQ where they actually examine the ticket to make certain it's genuine. BTW, I always check my tickets online. So far, the only tickets I've ever had are losers of low cash-prize winners. I used to take my tickets into a convenience store that had a machine in the customer area ... where customers could scan a ticket barcode themselves. I only saw 2 responses in the LED window when I did this ... N
