There was no jackpot winner in the Wednesday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $216 million for Saturday's drawing.
Wednesday was the 10th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The jackpot run started February 9 as a $40 million jackpot.
The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $132.8 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games.
Players should note that jackpot amounts are conservative estimates provided by the lotteries, and are often somewhat higher by the time the drawing occurs.
Although there were no jackpot winners Wednesday, 5 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 2 from Florida, 1 from Kentucky, 1 from New Hampshire, and 1 from North Dakota. None of the second-prize winners purchased the Power Play option. If they had, their second-prize win would have automatically doubled to $2 million.
37 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Of those tickets, 6 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $40,000.
The Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, March 13, were 5, 9, 28, 32, and 38, with Powerball number 29.
Following the Wednesday drawing, the Powerball annuity jackpot estimate was raised $33 million from its previous amount of $183 million. The cash value was raised by $20.3 million, from its previous amount of $112.5 million.
The next Powerball drawing will take place Saturday night at 10:59 pm Eastern Time.
When a Powerball ticket is purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per ticket, any non-jackpot prize is increased according to a fixed prize schedule, which can be found on the Powerball Drawing Detail page at USA Mega, as well as on the Powerball Prize Payouts page at Lottery Post.
Powerball is now played in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 pm Eastern Time. Tickets cost $2 each.
On April 8, California will join the Powerball game, becoming the 43rd state to play the game. After California joins the game, Powerball will be available for purchase in every U.S. state that operates a lottery.
The Powerball winning numbers are published at USA Mega (www.usamega.com) minutes after the drawing takes place.
$216 million let the Frenzy begin!!!!!!
Another dollar, another chance
Hi Everyone,
I will play at least 3 lines, but not more than 5 lines this time, as I wasn't even close last night. I could get much luckier though. Or so I keep telling myself. Good luck to all. Time for one of us (or more) to win!
Well last night I decided to pick my numbers this time and tried to give some thought to it. I bought 3 lines with the powerplay (usually only play one line). Anyway I had the powerball number so only won 12 dollars but I had 3 numbers that were just off by one digit. After getting lots of QP's with 3 numbers in a row I realized that I'm better off picking numbers for now (I don't want to get locked into a set of numbers though and feel I have to play those all the time). I'm just happy to win the 12 dollars because most of the time I win 0. Looking forward to Saturday.
Good job on winning $12.00 it's more than I won lol.....
I am thinking green ........................
Green with $$$$$$$
Its only the beginning- l have said that this jackpot is going to climb higher and enter April where some lucky winner in California, yeah this California is going to win the whole thing... Did l tell ya or did l tell ya?
Think positive people..!
People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

AZ is due for a second big win.
Congrats on picking up a $12 win last night, even that is never easy in the PB game. As for picking your own numbers and getting locked into a specific set have you considered picking new numbers each draw for some lines while perhaps keeping a line or two the same? Granted it's more work choosing new numbers a few times per week but it will help you to recognize patterns and game tendencies.
Try the LP QP generator, and you can see the numbers BEFORE you buy them..........

Oh no, no, no, noise-gate Oklahoma will be winning this Jackpot
$1,000,000 winning ticket sold in Nashua, NH. Was that Mcginnin?
He posted this am and made no mention of being the winner.
Hi dallascowboyfan,
Thanks, hopefully you will win something good on saturday!
Hi msharkey2001,
Thanks for your congrats. As I mentioned I'm trying not to pick set numbers that I have to play all the time and instead just randomly picking numbers but giving it some thought before I pick them. Truth is last night was the first time in a long time that I did pick my own numbers and that was only because of the problems I've been having with the QP's (I posted a problem with QP the other day). As you say it is more work to choose new numbers each time but beginning to think that it might be worth it. Will still do the occasionals QP but not as often anymore because I continue to get bad numbers or numbers from previous draws on them.
$216 millions!!!!
congrats on 12 bucks lol
reposting chart i posted in 183m thread
right now we at 216m and mm being reset again , everyone playin pb

only 3 rollovers left away form 500m/near 600m range 4th draw
thro i think it stands a good chance at being won any draw. thro if no one at lottery post wins, i hope it keeps going baby rofl.
thro with these high jackpots, we tend to have more then 1 winning tickets a lot of time
both PB/MM records in 2012 had shared winning tickets, and a lot of 300m ones do as well
anyway lets enjoy CA players media reports as they cross the borders to play
at lest they get access to playin next month
$216M!!! I'm dreaming big on this one!
nice thief magnets thar, golfer
I'd like some magnets like that!
I'll stick to my old iron
I don't think a dollar is going to cut it for Powerball. One dollar buys you half a ticket.
I will play my usual 3 lines and I am also in an office pool with two other people so $10 is my total budget. Hopefully I get some of that money back.
I have my 5 lines ready for action. I hope this is the JP we split.
Yessir! The 7 year old combination needs to come in for us. TBH I'd be glad to go home with just $20M, after taxes though . Its not too much money and not too little.
i think i'm going to wait to get my tickets @the last minute
Id be happy for 2nd prize,
Drawing the day before St. patrick's day someone just might be the LUCKY WINNER!!
Would those who won 2nd prize for 1 millions get the whole 1 millions all at once before taxes?
Uncle Sam has no problem collecting these 2 and others if one does not pay their fair share of taxes. Ask Nicholas Cage and Willie Nelson.
Cage had his " Castle" repossessed and Willie- they removed speakers from his studio as part of the " you owe us" and have come up short.
The second prize is not an annuity so you get the whole prize after they withhold 25% for the federal taxes and or about 5% for the state taxes. Most people end up with about 680,000 from the many happy stories I have read.
That is a nice house. I always notice it when I play golf as it's situated across the lake from my neighborhood. I believe it's owned by a former baseball player. It's quite a step up from the dream homes you previously wanted
I agree, I notice I do best when I buy my tickets no sooner than 6:30 PM the day of the drawing. Doesn't matter if they're my numbers or QP's. The tickets I almost never win anything on are the multi-draws I buy for the whole month. They almost never win anything. I'm quitting that after this month's tickets expire. Then I'll buy my tickets only on the day of the drawing as late as possible.
OMG hearse, that is an ugly truck!
It only needs a new paint job. But if you "really" like it, then I'm happy for you!
don't get me wrong i have won BIG many times on Local States games running them 14days @ a time, but when it come to powerball & Mega i think there just is to many people playing so i'm gonna try getting them later in the evening day of drawing to see if that may mix up the numbers some.
Good Luck
Hi Jill, I can't believe you know this house in Orlando!! Yes, it is way above what I deserve but we're talking $216M!!!! I'm glad to hear it is on or near a golf course because that is what I want.
Price: $9.6M, 6bd, 13ba and 14,447 sq ft. For your interior viewing pleasure:
I noticed the same thing about the multi-draws!
I might buy my ticket on Saturday (the day before St. Patrick's Day) at 11:11am. Maybe, I will have the luck of the Irish (even though I'm not Irish, but my name is--I think), and then I can make a wish to win the jackpot at 11:11 :)
Haha! The image on the movie room screen is an image of the house. Nice marketing move!
You may also have to pay the 3.8% medicare tax. Not sure of the exact rules on this.
It is strongly advised to sign the back of your lotto ticket after you purchase it to protect yourself from loss or theft.
If you don’t sign your ticket someone else can claim your lotto winnings.
If you have lost a lotto ticket is it advised to contact the lotto you were playing and be able to provide them with information such as where and what time you bought the ticket from and what your chosen numbers were (and often useful if you know what else you bought at the same time).
Not sure what you are talking about? The government takes out their taxes before you get the money so there is no issue of them coming to take any of these items if you don't pay your taxes, they have already been paid. You would only lose the house if you don't pay your property taxes and if you can't do that with $100+ million, then that is your own <snip> fault. Quite frankly it is your own <snip> fault if you don't pay any of your taxes regardless.
That's a Lamborghini Jota, there was only one made and I doubt the guy plans to part with it anytime in the next 3+ decades, so good luck with that. lol I would argue your chances are worse than a snowball in hell of ever seeing or buying that thing.
$216 millions sounds good to me.....
I'll play my one line of PB with my own set of numbers just like I do every week... doesn't matter if its 40 million or 500 million
That is not entirely true, the government only takes out 25% and your state takes out it's percentage from your winnings. You then must pay the additional taxes on April 15th the following year. Don't forget we now have a tax base of 39.6% for the top tier. So you will need to put aside extra monies to take care of this obligation.
Cuter and better:
So, if you are planning to claim in a trust or LLC/LFP, should you still sign the check before the trust or LLC/LFP are created? Wouldn't the signature have to have the trust/LLC/LFP name have to be on the signature? I've always wondered about this. After making copies, I'd place the ticket in either a bank lockbox or fireproof safe until I spoke with an attorney regarding the signature. And no one touches the actual ticket until I know the answer.
Definitely much cuter!
The aerodynamic flaming stripes probably add to its speed and economy as well.
Looks like it would also be great for mowing lawns .
No blades on that one, but dangit that sounds like a great idea! I bet you could get an acre mowed in no time at all, and have a blast doing it!
The winner would be responsible for this tax which would be used to fund Obamacare. This tax applies to both earned and unearned income.
$216 million is truly a fictitious number. In reality, if you were fortunate enough to win and opted for the cash option, your net payout after factoring 39.6% Fed, 10.8% State and 3.8% Obamacare tax would be roughly $67 million. This net number is after factoring in a deduction of 14.3 million paid to NJ on your Federal return.
If you did splurge, spending 10% of your net payout on your dream home shouldn't harm your lifestyle going forward.
Thats a nice Golf cart. You must really like your Caddy.
$216+ Million
Okay, I'm onhoard got my $20.00 worth of tickets, my 5 picks and 5 auto picks... Get the money ready to
send to OH-IO....Go Bucks...................................................................
Thanks for showen your support Keeping Power Balls alive.
Good Luck!
If I can be guaranteed Ohio's $34 million-and-change Classic win Saturday night, I'll forfeit any chance at PB's $216 million and let one of you take the big enchilada.
OMG Jill, you are so smart, informed, you play golf and play the lottery. Plus you live in my favorite city and your neighbor is my favorite golfer (Tiger). Will you marry me?
Venom, it's too bad they only made one. I just read that the guy who owns it paid a tidy $2.8M for it. I'll just have to buy something else. Besides that is way out of my price league.
Have you ever heard of a Pagani Huayra? Only cost $2.6M!!!
I know, sick right?
Lol! Tiger no longer resides in the community even though he still has his little villa home. He sold the larger one (fire hydrant incident)last summer.
I do still enjoy golf but I am one of those strange ones who only play when the jackpot goes over $100 million for the cash option. I already wager my money for a living but I consider it educated gambling.
I am hoping my ticket comes through this saturday night. Hopefully oregon gets its fourth jackpot winner in its history tomorrow night and that winner is me. Thank you for building my jackpot to a nice sum but I will be taking it off everyones hands this monday morning at 8:00 a.m. in salem oregon at the lottery headquarters. I hope that I don't break the camera when they take my picture.-weshar75

Tiger lives on Jupiter Island.

Are you talking about picking just the right slot machine, or perhaps poker? I didn't know there was such a thing as "educated gambling"?
May the camera's still work after the photo shoot.
OMG hearse, I can see the mommy's driving that monster to the tennis club where I work. Didn't Arnold Swartnegger have one of these?
Thanks for the Tiger pictures Ronnie. I didn't know he moved to Jupiter Island. He probably has some swinging parties at that house now that he is divorced.
I'm guessing Jill is referring to the stock market. Right Jill?
How bout for dropping the kids off at the elementary school.

$260,000,000
they maybe waiting for Cali to join in
WAIT A SECOND....
HOLD THE PRESSES....
RONNIE, YOU BOUGHT QUICK PICKS?
I thought you didn't believe in them?
You tell em Jilly. They just don't know...
35 diff pb numbers
16 winners of 5-0
so now where getting very near odds there will be a winner next draw
if it rolls, it goes into 300m range , if that rolls, say hello 500m range ,
2 rollover away,
cal wont join to atfer 6 more draws, there no way in hell we get there
sense in 3 more draws, we be sitting records again, or at lest 500m range again
so they will have to drive over a state border if they want some tickets for our current jackpot that playin hard to get
, ether way thats a lot of money to win to dream about how to spend
MM increases a lot slower than PB and consider last March:
March 30, 2012 - $656 million jackpot – 3 winning tickets ($218.6 million each)
So it wouldn't surprise me at all if it didn't hit until California came in.
CA deserves the first big Tuna on it's maiden voyage.
Yeah but not everyone here would agree with you on that one mcginnin!
I'm hoping someone hits it soon- before the jackpot fedding frenzy starts and the same people that told us they were going to buy a Bentley at $183M tell us they're going to buy three Bentlleys at $260M yada yada yada, but I'm just saying anything is possible - even the jp rolling until California is in it, and California winning it, and it all being on the up and up!
anything is possible but I think the jackpot will be won and re-set before California has a chance. If no one wins this Wednesday, the jackpot will roll to about $335 million and if no one wins that jackpot, then it will roll to over $590 million. I'm getting those numbers because I'm looking at a Powerball chart from late November. https://www.lotterypost.com/game/4/jackpot
When the jackpot is over $500 million, that's when the buying frenzy hits and about 90% of the possible combinations will be sold.
Anything is possible, but some things are very improbable. There are 6 more drawings before California gets a crack at it, which means we'd need 3 more rollovers compared to last November's jackpot.
If we see increases similar to what happened last November we'll see rollovers to about 330 and 590. That means sales of about 45 million (for the current drawing), 70 million and then 260 million. That would result in about 25, 35 and 85% of combinations being in play, which means chances of rollovers are about .75, .65 and .15. That gives us perhaps a 7.5% chance of reaching the upper 500 to low 600 range. Even if sales top out in the 260 million ticket range there's only a 0.3% chance of seeing another 3 rolls. If that did happen we'd see an advertised jackpot pushing $1.4 billion. Assuming sales increase even more, the chances of the last 3 rollovers might be well under 1 in 1000, but it could lead to an advertised jackpot significantly above $2 billion. And then Californai would join and there'd be still another increase for the 4/10 drawing. FWIW, at that point there's probably a good chance that a single winner would bank more than $1 billion after taxes.
Dream about it while you can, because that dream probably won't last more than a week to 10 days.
I got nothing last night
Time to start strategizing for Wednesday!
Last night I got 3/7/53 and 16 the best win in this game, but not enough to fully celebrate ;) However, I will buy more tickets for the next draw.
I totally agree with your analogy! 2 or possibly a third roll would be pushing it. If by some ridiculous circumstance it were to roll until California joined the mix then the jackpot would be well over 2 billion and the winner would indeed bank over a billion after taxes.
I would be very surprised to see Cali get a shot at this roll!
Mar 20- 260MM
Mar 23- 325MM
Mar 27- 587MM
Mar 30- 850MM
Apr 3- 1Billion +
Apr 6- 1.5 Billion +
Apr 8- Tickets go on sale Cali
Apr 10th- 2 Billion +... thinking this is not going to happen unless they have one lucky riding pigs that can fly- suppose anything is possible- Happy St Pats Day!
Granted anything can happen either way, a jackpot is hit beofre or after California becomes part of it.
But judging from some of the posts here I'd love to hear the explanations for last years' Mega Millions getting to $656 M before being hit, being MM has a $12M start point and increases a lot slower.
Just my $.02
to ____ with those california bums
as for the rest of ya here @ the LP good luck
Looking at it from that perspective, I can see your point of view. Anytime either PB or MM get into the 300MM range is unusual territory... 500MM + is rare. I was very surprised to see MM roll to 656M... I was convinced somebody would have won it on the previous roll.
Frankly, if PB got to Cali and was 2Billion... I don't think I would play- If I won, I would be totally freaked out... just too much heat with that kinda cash... even if I had the option to claim it anonymously.
Good news, you get a chance to try to win them both again. I'll be giving it another try too. Good luck!
