Gun Dean: Obama Warning Betrays Truth
Armed citizens the best defense against 'Lone Wolf' terrorist
By: Neil W. McCabe
08/23/2011
John M. Snyder, The Gun Dean
The Gun Dean told Guns & Patriots Aug. 17 that when he responded to questions about terrorist threats facing the nation, Pres. Barack H. Obama Jr., acknowledged the need for an armed citizenry.
"Obama unintentionally has substantiated a major gun rights argument," said gun law expert John M. Snyder, who is known as the Gun Dean because he is Washington’s senior gun rights advocate.
"On national television Aug. 16, Obama indicated the United States has as its major concern the lone wolf terrorist who is so difficult to track," he said.
"What this means is that armed law-abiding citizens have to depend on themselves and their guns for defense of life, family and property. This is especially true today as we approach the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 Islamist suicide attacks in Washington, D.C., and New York City,” he said.
"Obama cited the recent slayings in Norway by a lone wolf terrorist who perpetrated a massacre with a weapon. What Obama failed to mention is that the Norwegian gun laws prevented a law-aiding citizen from being armed and therefore being able to bring down the mass murderer.”
The Gun Dean said that on CNN, Obama told interviewer Wolf Blitzer: “The biggest concern we have right now is not the launching of a major terrorist operation, although that risk is always there, the risk that we're especially concerned over right now is the lone wolf terrorist, somebody with a single weapon being able to carry out wide-scale massacres of the sort that we saw in Norway recently. You know, when you've got one person who is deranged or driven by a hateful ideology, they can do a lot of damage, and it's a lot harder to trace those lone wolf operators."
This is exactly the spree gunner that armed citizens would be able to stop in his tracks, he said.
Snyder said what is surprising is that Obama has never before vocalized an understanding this crucial reason not to disarm Americans.
"Obama's been an anti-gun politician from the get-go. His administration's behavior in the Justice Department's scandalous ATF Operation Fast and Furious, now the subject of an ongoing congressional investigation, shows he still is,” he said. “So does the administration's attempt to do an end run around Americans' 2nd Amendment rights by its promotion of an anti-gun United Nations Arms Trade Agreement.“
While not hopeful Obama will change his ways, the Gun Dean said he is thrilled that at least he understands was is at stake.
"With his CNN statement, Obama upended his own anti-gun ideology by inadvertently showing that Americans need guns. Guns save lives. Americans need them to protect life."
