Well, I remember having to use an outhouse before we had full plumbing installed. Pumping water from a well at the barn with a hand pump. The wood stoves in the kitchen and basement for heat plus a coal stove in the living room. The ringer washing machine. Radios for entertainment before TV. The wall mounted telephone.
The biggest box stores were Montgomery Ward ,Sears & the five and time stores. There were no shopping malls.
Unpaved roads. There were no interstate highways.
I joined the Army and got three hots and a cot.

Remembering Radio & Cat Vibes

Wire telegraph is a kind of very , very long cat. You pull it's tale in New York and it head meows in Los Angles . Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: You send signals here; they receive them there. The only difference is there's no cat :-)

Sounds like comments from those who grew up in the 1960's and 70's. My parents are from that era and fondly remember watching show like "Lost in Space" , "Star Trek" and the "Jetsons". They were also told that the earth would meets it's demise before the year 2000 due to Global Warming.
